[Experimental] Collaborative Database of Information on Assistive Technology and User Agent Support for Uses of Technologies

Welcome to Accessibility Supported, an experimental site designed to collect information about accessibility support for various uses of Web technologies, technology features and techniques for creating accessible Web content.

Accessibility Supported

Using a technology in a way that is accessibility supported means that it works with assistive technologies (AT) and the accessibility features of operating systems, browsers and other user agents. Technology features can only be relied upon to conform to WCAG 2.0 success criteria if they are used in a way that is "accessibility supported". Technology features can be used in ways that are not accessibility supported (do not work with assistive technologies, etc.) as long as they are not relied upon to conform to any success criterion.

You can get started by conducting a basic search and exploring the data that's available so far. If you're interested in helping out, we're looking for individuals who are willing to help us test the technology uses we've collected thus far. If you have questions or would like to help out, please do not hesitate to contact us.

For more information about Accessibility Supported, refer to the definition of "accessibility supported" in WCAG 2.0 and Understanding Accessibility Support.

This is an experimental database created by the Trace Center to explore an approach to collecting data on accessibility support for Web technologies. If it works, it will be transfered to whomever will be managing it in the long term. Please send questions or comments to accesssup@trace.wisc.edu.
